The Indian Navy invites applications from unmarried male
candidates for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in Executive branch
(Sports) for the June 2013 course. The course will be conducted at the Indian
Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala, Kerala.
Eligibility Requirements
1. Age: 22 to 27yrs, born between 2nd July 1986
and 1st July 1991 (inclusive of both dates).
2. Educational qualifications: Regular, first class Post
Graduate Degree in Physical Education, from a recognised University together
with a Diploma in Sports Coaching from National Institute of Sports (NIS) or
M.Sc. in Sports (Coaching). Candidates with M.Phil. & Ph.D. will be given
priority during shortlisting for SSB.
Candidates who are appearing for their Post Graduate need
not apply as their application will not be accepted.
3. Sports Qualification: You should have participated in an
All India Inter-University Championship or Senior Level National
Championship/Games in:
(a) Athletics
(b) Cross Country
(c) Triathlon
(d) Badminton
(e) Tennis
(f) Squash/Football/Handball/Hockey/Basketball/Volleyball/Cricket/Swimming/Diving/Water
Polo/Kabaddi/Boxing.
4. Physical Standards:
(a) Minimum height should be 157cms. with correlated weight.
(b) Minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision
should be 6/12, 6/12 correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses. You should not be
colour blind or night blind.
(c)There will be no relaxation in physical standard.

2. The application must be accompanied by attested copies of: (i) 10th Std. Certificate for verification of date of birth; (ii) other educational certificates; (iii) Marks statement of all semesters / years.
3. Make sure that all requisite enclosures are properly tagged/stitched by thread & do not send loose enclosures.
4. Make your application on plain A4 size paper (typed or handwritten) in the prescribed format and complete in all respects. The superscription on the envelope should be “APPLICATION FOR SSC (SPORTS) – Jun 2013 COURSE Qualification........Percentage........%”.

India Navy SSC (Sportsmen) application Selection Process
1. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a preliminary
interview at New Delhi (no rail fare or allowance will be given).
2. Qualified candidates of the preliminary interview will
then attend detailed interview for Service Selection Board (SSB) at Bhopal,
Bangalore or Coimbatore, followed by a medical examination.
3. The SSB interviews for short listed candidates will be scheduled
in March-April 2013. AC-3-tier rail fare will be admissible for the SSB
interview if appearing for the 1st time for this commission.
Training: The training is scheduled in the month of June
2012. Candidates will be inducted as officers in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant.
Following the Naval Orientation Course at INA, candidates will undergo
professional training at various Naval Training Establishments/Units/Ships.
